
PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL PILATES

During pregnancy and after childbirth your body is going through a lot of changes. We all know the benefits of safe, tailored exercise during pregnancy and for postnatal recovery but sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming to know what it is you should or should not be doing at this time. You might even be feeling a little disconnected from your body and unsure where to start.
Be:Poised Pilates founder Gina has a wealth of in-depth training and experience in working with people during pregnancy and after childbirth. She has received training from incredible leaders in the world of pre & postnatal exercise and she is passionate about helping women feel empowered and confident in their abilities.
At Be:Posied Pilates you can be assured that our specialist pregnancy and postnatal classes have been especially designed to meet the needs of your changing body during pregnancy and after childbirth. Classes are taught by teachers who are trained & qualified to work with clients during pregnancy and in the postnatal period, We are here to support and encourage you. To pay attention to your aches and pains, to sympathise when you have had a sleepless night, and even to hold your baby if needed so you can get some much needed time for you and your body during class!
PILATES FOR PREGNANCY
We run a Pilates for Pregnancy mat class on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. You are welcome to join this class during any trimester of your pregnancy. Classes are specially designed, drawing inspiration from the Pilates mat work and adaptations from across the entire Pilates Studio system to create a mat class that will support your changing body throughout pregnancy and prepare you for the postnatal period to come. You do not need any previous Pilates experience to join this class. Simply book and come along.
If you are nervous about starting class or if you have a specific condition and would prefer a 1:1 session before joining the class please get in touch with us and we will be happy to arrange that for you.
Our Pregnancy classes are tailored to meet the needs of those attending each week and can vary from gentle mat mobility work, to targeted strength work, use of small apparatus such as as the Step Barrel, or a general class that combines mobilisation, strength and control. We will support you in class to feel at ease and work according to your body’s needs.
POSTNATAL PILATES
Our Postnatal Pilates mat classes are a wonderful opportunity to spend some time focussing on YOU and YOUR body, whilst in the supportive company of other Mums on their own postnatal journey.
In our Postnatal Pilates class you will be guided through the foundations of postnatal restorative exercise and movement, with a focus on Pilates based techniques. We believe in a tailored approach, with your teacher guiding you to work in accordance with your own body’s needs and progressing at your own pace as you gradually build in strength and confidence. To help support you during your postnatal period you will also receive access to our online Postnatal Pilates client zone which has helpful information and resources.
For those who have spent time in our Postnatal Pilates classes and are ready to build on those strong foundations with greater challenges we also run a Postnatal Progressions class. This class follows more closely the Classical Pilates matwork, with continued guidance from your teacher to help you progress in the right way for your body and needs.
You are welcome to bring your baby along to our Postnatal Pilates and Postnatal Progressions classes and can tend to them as needed during class.

PRIVATE & GROUP APPARATUS CLASSES - PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL
The Pilates apparatus studio can be a great place to workout during pregnancy and in the postnatal period. The resistance from the springs and apparatus can help support your body. We have specially created wedges in the studio to support the body in traditionally supine positions on the apparatus and we are proud to have worked with the manufacturer of these wedges in their development to help ensure they meet the needs of our pregnant clients.
Whilst we do not have any pregnancy or postnatal specific group Reformer or Tower classes running at present, you are welcome to join our regular classes under the guidance of our pregnancy & postnatally trained teachers (2x induction sessions required) or why not team up with friends or classmates to arrange a private class. We can accommodate private classes for uptown 4 people and will work with you to arrange dates and times to suit you, subject to studio and teacher availability.
We also welcome clients on a 1:1 basis in the apparatus studio.
