BE:POISED PILATES

PILATES FOR PREGNANCY CLIENT ZONE

Welcome to Pilates for Pregnancy with Be:Poised Pilates.

This is your client zone - an online resource for our Pilates for Pregnancy clients into which we have added some information and resources to help you feel empowered and supported during your pregnancy. These are all topics we touch on in class, however by posting articles and resources here it allows you to explore these areas in greater detail and refer to them whenever you wish.

Getting Started:

We’re so pleased to welcome you on board. Hopefully by now you have received your welcome email and completed your online health form. If you haven’t completed the health form yet please do complete it as soon as you can as it will help us support you in the best way during class.

In our classes you will be guided through a series of exercises to help support your body during pregnancy. Your teacher will guide you through each exercise and explain how each exercise offers particular benefits during pregnancy.

Something that is relatively unique to our pregnancy and postnatal classes compared with a regular Pilates class is how much we “cue” the pelvic floor. During pregnancy we want you to start to develop an awareness of your pelvic floor as this can really help you during childbirth and the postnatal period. We use simple cues to help you develop an awareness of your pelvic floor through movement and breath. It can be really helpful if you have a chance to read our article “The Pelvic Floor and Pregnancy” from the drop down menu below.

Using the Client Zone:

This client zone is exclusively for Be:Poised Pilates clients. You can refer to it as often as you like. Browse the menu below to explore articles, videos and other resources to help supplement that work you do with us in the studio. Because it is a client only zone, you won’t find a link to it on our main website navigation. You can access the client zone by following the link on your Welcome email. If you can’t find your welcome email don’t worry, we also include a reminder link on each class booking reminder email. Bookmarking the link will help you go back to it easily in future.

The content within this client zone is exclusively for the use of Be:Poised Pilates clients. Any unauthorised downloading, copying, reproducing or sharing of the information is strictly prohibited and may result in your bookings with us being cancelled without refund.

  • During pregnancy, there is a lot of emphasis on preparing for birth and labour. The precious postnatal period is often overlooked but it is crucial when we talk about ongoing mental and emotional wellbeing for the whole family.  In this guest blog, South Downs Doula Samantha Adams talks about the importance of support during this period and how a postnatal doula can help. Read the blog here.

  • We’d love to see you after your baby is born to help support you in returning to physical activity after childbirth.

We run a Postnatal Pilates class on Friday mornings at 11am. This class is carefully designed to help establish the foundations of restorative movement and exercise, and help you build progressively in strength, control and mobility.

We also run a Postnatal Progressions class at 12.15pm on Fridays for those who are ready to move on from the restorative work in the earlier class but still have the ability to bring baby with you and keep that postnatal focus to the work as you continue to progress.

You are welcome to bring your baby with you to these classes and tend to them as needed. Classes can be booked on a drop in basis. We recommend waiting until you are 6-8 weeks postnatal before coming to class in most cases.

To book a space book via the booking calendar or BSport app in the same way you have done for your pregnancy classes. You will receive an email containing helpful class information, a link to the postnatal health form and access to our Postnatal Client zone that has some helpful pre-class information to help empower you to return to activity after childbirth in an informed and confident manner.
