CLASS LEVELS
FAQs
How do I know what level a class is?
The booking system will show you the level for each class. There is a description of the class levels on the website and on this page
Do I need to change my usual class?
In most cases, no. If you already attending classes, please continue to come to your usual class at the usual time. The class level will have been determined with those who currently attend the class in mind. Class levels will move as clients progress, so you don't have to change class every time you progress in your practice - the class will usually move with you.
Can I come to a class that is listed as a different level to the one I usually attend?
If you can't make your usual class and cannot find a class of a similar level at a time that suits you, you may be able to come to an alternative level class. Everyone is welcome in Foundations level classes, and it can be hugely beneficial even for the most advanced clients to strip it back from time to time and rediscover those fundamentals now that you are more in tune with your body. In the event of going "up" a level it is usually worth checking with me first to ensure the class will be suitable for you and won't be too advanced. This is for your safety and to ensure you continue to get the most out of your time in the studio.
How quickly will I move through different class levels?
This can vary based on the individual and what sort of class suits you. It is important to note that within a single class level there are multiple different progressions and new things to learn so you can expect to be working within a particular level of class for a matter of months at least, not weeks. You will still be progressing in your practice as you refine your skills and learn new ones within the class. Some people may prefer to stay at a particular level because the pace or feel of the class suits them. No matter what class you attend you will be working hard and challenging your strength and connections because, well, that is Pilates!!
I am new or returning to classes after a break - which classes can I come to?
Mat Classes: If you are new to Classical Pilates we recommend starting with a Foundations or Foundations Plus Level class. This includes if you have done Pilates before at a non-Classical studio as it will help you learn the classical exercises at foundation level and develop those important connections that will help you master the more advanced exercises. You can also come along to our All Levels classes.
Apparatus Classes: You will need to start with an induction. Our new induction package comprises 2x 1:1 induction sessions, a 4 class group apparatus pass and a free mat class pass. Once you have completed your induction sessions you will usually start with Foundations Plus or All Levels group classes.
When will the new class levels be implemented?
We will transition to the new levels during May, with the aim of having all levels in place by 1st June. Until then you may see some classes remaining as All Levels whilst we work through the transition.
